

Ninh Binh expects to greet 1.7 million tourists in 2008

With a series of projects being developed, the Ninh Binh tourism sector is aiming to welcome 1.75 million tourists in 2008.
Over the past year, Ninh Binh tourism activities have seen many positive changes. The sector greeted more than 1.5 million tourists, an increase of 28 percent. Of this, 457,920 were foreign tourists, an increase of 22 percent. This figure also brought in a tourism turnover of nearly 109 billion VND and an overall social turnover from tourism activities of nearly 310 billion VND.
In 2007, Ninh Binh approved 6 tourism projects, with a total capital of more than 610 billion VND. In 2007, 5 infrastructure projects capitalized with 339 billion VND was moved from 2006. Of these, the Trang An eco-tourism project invested with 317 billion VND, the Tam Coc – Bich Dong tourism area with 8 billion VND, the Thach Bich – Thung Nang transport project with 12 billion VND, and the Van Long infrastructure project with 2 billion VND.
The province has so far had 95 places to stay, including three one-star hotels and eight two-star hotels with 359 rooms of international standard.
