

Efforts made to improve tour guides’ skill

A competition was recently held for tour guides at Presidential Palace to improve their guide skill and knowledge on President Ho Chi Minh.
They went through three rounds of the competition which started in October.
From 150 candidates from the first round, seven from six travel agencies were selected for the finals.
Three best won the competition. They are Nguyen Viet Long, Le Trung Thu and Hoang Khai Hoan from different travel agencies. They were also awarded tours to Malaysia, Thailand and Kunming, China.
The competition was aimed to improve the general knowledge for tour guides who plays an important role in bridging culture between international visitors and Vietnam.
Earlier, the Hanoi Tourism Department has opened four training courses for 100 tour guides.
Deputy director of the Hanoi Tourism Department Cao Thi Ngoc Lai said, after the competition held four tour guide in Presidential Palace, they will organise more competitions for tour guides in Van Mieu (Temple of Literature), Co Loa Citadel, old quarter and Thang Long Citadel.
